I love food! It is such a great gift that God designed to be filling and reviving for our body, however, food does not satisfy me. I have been hungry like every human and that hunger can at times cause me to act in strange ways I usually wouldn’t if my body was fully nourished. As Christian’s we often liken our relationship with Christ as hunger. He is our spiritual nourishment therefore our spirit hungers for him. It’s similar to when my stomach longs for the comfort of a big burrito. When we don’t fill ourselves with the Lord our spirit can react out of character. It can start to search for food wherever it can get it. It can even blend with our body and emotions, searching there for its nourishment. Our emotions may have bold strength and drive but not enough to nourish our spirit. Our bodies function unconsciously and can endure hard things, but they can’t last long enough for our spirit to be fully filled. When we use these things, although they are things that can nourish us, they are weak in nourishing the spirit we all are created with. To be full is what allows us the energy to go out and act as humans. If our body, mind, and spirit are hungry it causes us to fall short. We need food. We need satisfaction.

Isaiah 58:11 “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”

Psalms 17:15 “As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.”

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Psalms 107:9 “For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.”

These are just a few verses where the Lord says that he shall fill us. He has all that we could ever need and offers it all freely. Will you enter his house?  Will you except his food?

What do we do when filled? Have you ever eaten food, then after, you achieve a lot of goals you had because you felt energized. That’s what happens when you are full spiritually. You gain energy to accomplish the Lord’s will. What is the Lord’s will you might ask? Well, that is an interesting question (at least I think so).  I don’t know what or if there is a direct answer to this question, but I know that when I am filled I fill others. I hunger for more of the Lord just like after I eat a good burrito, I get hungry for even more. I feel at rest when full. Stress and anxiety start to become less frequent in my mind. I grow to be content with what I am given. I don’t let peoples words stick on to me like I use to. Things that used to hurt don’t even scare me anymore and I have no guilt or shame for anything I have thought or done. I am truly satisfied because he has given me life and this is it. He gave his all to me and it is enough. I hunger and am full of him. I have enough! Do you? Or are you still hungry? What will fill you?
